Our Team
Chris Van Tol, President
Chris founded the VanTol & Vitelli Insurance Group in 2012. A lifelong sailor, he grew up racing on the Detroit River and Lake St. Clair and has competed across the U.S. and internationally. From 2007–2009, Chris was the helmsman for the No. 1-ranked match-racing team in the country.

Chris and his team bring more than 50 years of combined experience in yacht, marine, luxury home, auto, and commercial insurance. He has served on the Board of Directors for Big Brothers Big Sisters of Detroit and is a member of Bayview Yacht Club and the Detroit Athletic Club.
Ian Hollerbach, Personal Lines Agent
Ian Hollerbach has been part of the team since 2014, bringing over a decade of experience in personal lines insurance. While he initially specialized in marine coverage thanks to his lifelong boating background, Ian now focuses on home, auto, and a full range of personal lines. He’s known for tailoring his approach to each client’s unique needs, making coverage straightforward and easy to understand.
Kathie Gilbert, Commercial & Personal Lines Agent
Kathie, from Shelby Township and a graduate of Oakland University, previously worked as a launch engineer for a Big Three automaker. She specializes in personal lines insurance, bringing strong attention to detail and client service.​

In her free time, Kathie enjoys travel, golf, and snowboarding.
Sarah Vitelli, Vice President
Raised in Shelby Township, Sarah brings 20 years of insurance experience to VanTol & Vitelli Insurance Group. Before joining the agency, she worked at two of Michigan’s largest insurance agencies, specializing in personal insurance and client service.

Outside of work, Sarah enjoys traveling, practicing yoga, playing golf, and spending time with family and friends.
Mary August, Account Manager
Mary grew up in Richmond, MI, and is a graduate of Richmond High School. With over 20 years of experience in the insurance industry, she has worked at both Michigan’s largest insurance agencies and a leading national insurance company.

Outside the office, Mary enjoys spending time with her family, following her favorite Detroit sports teams, and boating.
Lindsay Ottersen, Account Executive
With six years of experience as a Customer Service Representative in the insurance industry, Lindsay brings strong expertise in client support, policy guidance, and problem resolution. She takes pride in her strong work ethic, attention to detail, and commitment to creating positive customer experiences.
In her free time outside of the office, Lindsay is an avid volunteer and can be found giving back through ongoing community-focused philanthropic work. She is also an avid traveler who enjoys all Michigan has to offer, the endless unique destinations around the USA, and experiencing new cultures abroad.
